How to Make the Co-Buyer the Only Buyer on the Transaction?

⚠️ Straw purchases are illegal! TDC does not support or encourage straw purchases. However, there are legitimate cases where you may need to remove the original primary buyer and make the co-buyer the sole buyer on the transaction.

Switching to a Sole Co-Buyer

  1. On the Dealership Dashboard, open the transaction file.

  2. Click on the Deal Scenarios button under the Deal section

  3. Select Scenario #2 – Remove Primary Buyer.

    • The co-buyer will automatically become the sole primary buyer on the transaction.

What Happens Next

  • The original primary buyer is removed from the transaction.

  • Their data is not deleted—it is securely stored under the Customers tab in the top-right of the Dashboard.

  • From this point forward, only the new primary buyer (formerly the co-buyer) will continue through the deal process.

    Important Things to Know

    • Forms Must Be Re-Executed

      • If either consumer signed forms before switching, a new set of forms must be executed.

      • The old forms will be removed from both the Deal Jacket and the Digital Glove Box.

    • Forms Completion Indicator Resets

      • After switching, the forms completion indicator will no longer show a green checkmark.

      • Dealership staff will need to click Request Signatures Again on the Dashboard.

    • Re-Signing Process

      • The new primary buyer must log into their own portal and e-sign the new forms that are staged for them,
